What would you do if you were made homeless?

Posted on Tuesday, 24 March 2009 11:24PM by Janet Davies, Editor

When I first set up this website I never thought that so many would need to use it, nor did I ever think that I would need to add resources about homelessness to help the victims of the credit-crunch. Until today that is. Why? Because today I met Linda Stout-Turner, a now homeless middle-class lady, on ITV's 'This Morning' programme. She is living proof that destitution can be but a pay cheque or two away for many more people than we would like to believe is possible. I was asked to give her some help on building her life after redundancy and I hope to post more stories on her progress.

Linda isn't the kind of woman you'd expect to see on the streets. She's smart, articulate and has lots to offer the right employer if she could only get the right break. Linda's story has touched a nerve with the media and the public, but I wonder how many more Linda's there are out there already, or there will be over the coming months? So, I'll be adding more information on the site about the issues that are raised by her plight, and about what happens to Linda.

If you would like to nominate any organisations, charities and voluntary groups for inclusion in this new section of this website that could be helpful to to anyone facing homelessness as a result of redundancy, please send them to editor@newlifenetwork.co.uk. Click on the link for our new page on help for those affected by homelessness.
