MBA course finder
More and more people are undertaking MBA courses these days as a way of progressing their management careers. You can study just about anywhere in the world, however, the UK has over 100 Business schools offering world class teaching and research in state of the art facilities. One in eight undergraduates chooses to study business at university making it the UK's most popular degree choice and 10,000 MBA students graduate from business schools in the UK, the largest number outside North America. The UK has 17 EQUIS (European Quality Standard) accredited schools- the highest number of any country in Europe.
An MBA course is neither a cheap nor an easy option. Programmes often run into thousands of pounds for tuition not to mention the opportunity cost of lost income if you are already working. So, you need to think very carefully about whether you study while you work, take an online or distance learning course, or take a break from working and study full-time.
Another important consideration is where you go to gain your qualification. There is a great deal of snobbery attached to where you study and, naturally, you'll want to make sure that you have access to the very best teaching staff and a stimulating learning environment. There is no such thing as a 'plain vanilla' MBA as Schools tend to have their own specialisms or strengths. The best place to start your research is the Association of MBA's website listed below or for a listing of accredited Schools click here.
Students tend to get a lot more out of an MBA course if they have some work experience too. Employers are keen to ensure that they hire well rounded individuals who can make a real contribution to their firms, not academic prima donnas with a lot of opinions and little in the way of the relationship and results oriented skills needed to get the job done.
So, take your time, check out the helpful websites in the directory, talk to other people you know who may already hold the qualification, visit a few MBA Schools and the various careers fairs before you make your decision. Look for these accreditation symbols as indicators that your chosen School takes quality seriously. You will need to take the GMAT entrance test so make sure that you also research the Crack GMAT site in the directory below.
