Our top tips for fast and effective job-hunting
- Download our free e-book about successful job-hunting online Surf your way to your next new job below.
- Track your job-hunting efforts: leave an orderly and easy to manage trail of your job hunting activity, keep a careful note of e.g. your website passwords, user id's, dates you posted your CV, the version of your CV you posted, the status of your job applications and so on. Download our free job tracking template at the bottom of this page.
- Be safe: be careful what information you share online. You should never need to give your National Insurance number or Bank Account details, and only offer the contact details you are comfortable leaving i.e. an email address and telephone number but not your home address. For more top tips download the ICO Personal Information Toolkit as recommended by BBC Breakfast at the bottom of this page or check out the advice of the REC here .
- Know your rights: download a copy of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) code of practice for candidates, recruiters and agencies at the bottom of this page.
- Use this job-hunting directory effectively: to find out more about each website, and whether it has the right jobs for you, simply click on the company name to read their full profile and contact details. Then you can start searching through their vacancies, register your CV and set up your job alert emails.
